Community Employment Specialist


Referral Staffing Solutions is hiring for a company in Tomah for a Community Employment Specialist. Position is starting at $12.00/hr.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities Under the direction of the Director of Programming, the Community Employment Specialist is responsible for job development, case management and community employment transitions as well as other supports, such as assessment and career/goal planning, for individuals with disabilities seeking community employment enrolled in supported employment program. This person works with referral agencies on behalf of the participants to find employment opportunities for people with disabilities or other barriers to employment. Qualifications To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner both verbally and through written skills. The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience •Associates degree in related field, or 2 years’ experience. •Ability to read and comprehend written and diagram instruction such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. •Ability to fill out paper work associated to essential duties. •Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. •Ability to work with a wide range of persons with disabilities. •Maintain a valid Driver’s License with a driving record that is acceptable to company’s carrier.

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee may be required to drive a mini bus to assist in transport of individuals to job sites, social/recreational outings and to pick up or deliver production products. The employee must occasionally lift 50 pounds and or move 150 pounds using a pallet jack.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly walks on a concrete floor, generally is indoors in a controlled environment but is required to go outside in all kinds of weather to perform general maintenance and grounds keeping tasks. The employee regularly works with individuals with disabilities and provides attendant care as needed. The noise level is usually moderate.
